METRO PPA YEARLY OPEN COMPETITIONS

  • Metro PPA follows the guidelines used for the IPC (International Photographic Competition).  However, while there are no scores given at IPC competitions (merit/no merit only), Metro continues to use the traditional scoring system (65-100). This gives you the opportunity to test the strength of your images at a local level before entering these larger competitions.

  • Competition images are evaluated by a panel of judges who are Master Photographers, that may be an IPC juror or pursuing such and are familiar with the Professional Photographers of America judging system. They use a numeric scoring system to evaluate an image based on how well it meets the 12 Elements of a Merit Image. (Images are presented anonymously so neither the judges nor the audience will be able to identify an image’s maker.) Watch the Jury charge: 2018 IPC Jury Charge Video
