Straight Out Of Camera Competition/Evaluation

This Competition/Evaluation is designed to help us sharpen our photography skills - not our Photoshop skills. For this reason, we are allowing only camera RAW files. If you do not normally photograph in RAW, I would suggest photographing in both RAW and jpg. If you shoot only jpg and cannot shoot both simultaneously, contact me. Each month will have a different category.

The categories:

Feb: women's portrait (single subject)
Mar: man's portrait (single subject)
Apr: Free for all
May: Children's portrait (single subject)
Jun: Free for all
Jul: Wedding or bridal
Aug: Free for all
Sep: Unclassified 1 or 2 (scenics, commercial, non-people, non-faces)
Oct: Group (more that one subject)

Evaluation:

All files will be judged "as they were shot". Accuracy is encouraged and will be rewarded.
Exposure, including color balance (0-5 points)
Focus, including depth-of-field (0-5 points)
Composition (0-5 points)
Lighting (0-5 points)
Treatment of subject, including elements like posing, key, expression (0-20 points)
Images scoring 35 or higher may be awarded an additional 1-5 points for excellence.

Your image will be reviewed by four judges. The scores will be averaged and at the end of the year the member with the highest total score wins prizes! Master photographers and past-presidents are encouraged to enter, even though they cannot win prizes.
Results will be emailed to you around the first of the month. We may be posting images on the website as well - with your permission.

To Enter:

You may only enter one image per month. The deadline is the monthly meeting.
To submit images, rename your file with the month and your name (leave the file type unchanged) : FEB_LarryFoster.CR2
then you can either:
a) bring it with you to the meeting on a USB drive or CD

b) go here and upload it to the web site.
